Our poor little Jaycee broke her leg last week on the neighbor’s trampoline.
Since everyone is asking about it, I thought I would post the story.
She has been non-stop playing outside and loving the spring weather. She also is becoming fast friends with our neighbors behind us, Adam and Emma. So on Thursday night she hopped over the fence to jump on the trampoline with them. I was inside cleaning up dinner when I heard Jaycee screaming at the top of her lungs. I ran outside and she was crying. Sarah, our neighbor tried to hand her over the fence to me, but Jaycee didn’t want that, so I ran around the block to meet them on the corner. Jaycee didn’t stop crying all night, but since it was already 7:00 she fell asleep. I was thinking maybe she had sprained her leg or pulled a muscle or something.
In the morning she woke up crying and would not get out of bed. She said her leg still hurt and she couldn’t move. I tried to touch her leg and she screamed, so I told her we better go to the doctor. She looked straight at me and said, “it doesn’t hurt anymore. It’s okay”. I knew she just didn’t want to go to the doctor so I told her if her leg was better she needed to stand up and walk. “I can’t because I am too tired” she said. I tried to touch her leg again and she screamed as soon as I did. So, off to the doc for us.

Here is Jaycee with her broken leg...
She actually fractured the growth plate on her lower femur just above the knee. She’s also somehow damaged a muscle below her knee and her right leg is more than twice the size of the left leg.
She is in a splint for now, and we will see the Orthopedic on Wednesday afternoon. Until then she has to keep her leg completely supported. Although she loves arts and crafts, she has already burned through a billion of them and is bored.

She enjoyed visits from Aunt Margaret, Aunt Tammy and Emily, and Grandma Wales, as well as Uncle Jeff – and of course she loves the many gifts she was given.

Rylee of course got gifts too... and she had to copy Jaycee laying around with her feet up.
The best part for her was getting to go to church in a wagon on Sunday. She thought that was pretty neat. Rylee thought it was cool too. We tried to take them on a walk in the wagon, but it was too rough and Jaycee’s leg hurt too much for it. :(
