Kite Flying… and Crashing

Filed under: Uncategorized — JaNae @ 7:09 am

We have been LOVING the warm weather this week! I am so excited to be playing outside and having fun outdoors again! Craig had spring fever so bad on Friday after work he took the girls to the store to pick out some new kites. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough wind on Friday to fly kites, but on Saturday evening we decided to take them out for a test run!

The wind was quite strong. In fact there were some guys at the park flying huge kites that practically looked like paraglyders, and all of the sudden a gust of wind came and one of them was dragged by his kite and smacked right into a fence. It was pretty funny to watch. Unfortunately the wind was a little too strong for our cheap-o kites, but of course we still had a great time.

The girls had a great time flying their kites, even though they were a little frustrated by how difficult it was with the strong wind. It wasn’t too long before they decided they’d rather play on the playground at the park

The best part was when Craig was helping Rylee fly the bat kite. He got it up and going and told her to hold on tight to the handle. She let go and the kite was wisked accross the field into a tree. Craig was able to get the kite out of the tree but before he was able to move it back into the open field it crashed again onto a roof! We never got it back.

Today there is snow on the ground and it is cold - so I hope it warms back up again soon so we have another chance to get those kites up!

Saint Patrick’s Day

Filed under: Uncategorized — JaNae @ 8:06 pm

As usual I am a little behind on my blogging, but I thought I’d add in our Saint Patrick’s day fun!

As tradition for our family we started the day off with our Leprechaun hunt. Every year the Leperechauns sneak into our house at night a leave a trail of green footprints all over the house. They lead the girls to a rainbow with a pot of treasure at the end!

This year was the first that Jaycee remembered about the Leperechauns and she was very excited about it as soon as she woke up. They followed the path of footprints (not as long this year as usual) and sure enough a pot of treaures was waiting!

After the hunt we followed tradition with our green shamrock pancakes. Jaycee thought she would get the day off from school since it was a holiday, but she wasn’t too disappointed when I told her otherwise. She was very concerned however that the Leperachauns didn’t leave footprints and a treasure at her friends house… hmmmm. I explained that they must only visit some people’s houses, and that seemed to satisfy her enough for then.

Jaycee has been asking to go bowling for a long long time.. so we finally went. Chenylle and Zack came along to liven things up. ;)

Jaycee and Rylee had a hard time waiting. It was already late, after we went out to dinner, and there was a long wait before we could get a lane - luckily they had other things to entertain us with (arcades).

After about the 5th frame the girls were tired and wanted to go home. I think it was 11:00 by the time we finished. But they had a great time! I hope bowling was everything Jaycee was expecting. :)

Rylee is always pulling these silly faces. And she always says “take a picture of me”. It makes me laugh.

All in all we had a great time. Dinner was fabulous (even with the wait), Margaret was great - she watched the kids while we went to dinner, bowling was a great time (even though I am obviously getting old and can’t keep up with the youngin’s), and the presents and cake were marvelous!

Tubbing with 2 beautiful girls…

Filed under: Uncategorized — JaNae @ 5:58 pm

Yes, that did say TUBBING. The week after valentines we had a good snowfall, so the House family gathered for some good sledding fun. Craig announced on facebook that morning that he was going “tubbing with 2 beautiful girls”. I died laughing - he meant to say Tubing, and of course was talking about Jaycee and Rylee. haha. We had a great time though!
